Enjoying Petro

We are finally beginning to see an end in sight. The days here in Petro will no longer repeat themselves before we go. We are leaving next Monday. We will take the overnight train to Moscow. We will spend 2 days in Moscow. There we will get the kids visas and immigration paperwork at the US Embassy. They will be US citizens as soon as they set foot on US soil.

We have planned an outing for each day here so that the time will go by quicker. We are getting pretty sick of being cooped up in this apartment. Thankfully we have been blessed with absolutely beautiful weather. Yesterday we think in was probably about 50 degrees. So nice, well considering that in February it was around 5 degrees. When we were here in December the highs on most days were about 25 degrees and that was actually warmer than usual.

Yesterday we took a walk down by the bay. It is the bay of Lake Onega. Lake Onega is the 4th largest fresh water lake in the world and the 2nd largest in Europe. They have a really nice pathway along the edge of it. The lake is completely frozen over. We were able to see a boat of some sort going over the ice being propelled by a large fan in the back. It was really cool. There are also a lot of sculptures and different things around there. Really interesting even though we don’t know what they really stand for.

The kids are doing well. Katya isn’t throwing hardly any fits anymore. We are down to just a couple a day instead of a couple every hour. They are also lasting only a minute or so instead of 5-10 minutes. She must be adjusting and becoming more comfortable with us. We are definitely becoming more comfortable with her. She has a really funny face that she makes. She squints her eyes and scrunches her nose up. It is really cute and you can’t help but laugh when you see it.

Daniel continues to be a big helper. Yesterday he helped vacuum the apartment. He always clears the table after every meal and loves laundry. We are afraid Brigham will corrupt this part of him soon. Brigham does not like to help and lets us know it. Sometimes Daniel wants to help a little too much. We are hoping that they can each rub a little off on each other instead. Daniel loves to go walking. He is fascinated with everything that he sees. He never watches where he is walking because he always has his head turned to see something or someone. Tomorrow we are going to the big supermarket again so we’ll see how he does there this time.

As for pictures. The internet here is extremely slow. We will not be posting photos until we get home. We also haven’t taken many on the digital camera so we’ll need to get some developed before they will be able to be posted.

Thankyou to everyone who has sent emails and posted comments. Your support and encouragement have helped us get through this time away.

It is about 8:00 here in the hometown. We are getting ready for the day. Making beds and cleaning up. Grandpa is comming today. Brigham does not want to put on his shoes, but I can assure you he will be wearing them when we leave for school.
We had a great day yesterday. We shopped and made surprises for Grandpa and Great Grandpa. Brigham brought a safty book home and we reviewed that for family home evening. We did big bubbles in the back yard. The kids loved chasing them. We had an egg hunt and it was fun. Brigham found most of the eggs, but we will do it agian and I am sure Kyler will be ready for the challenge.
Brigham is silly as ever. I hope Daniel will help Brigham learn to get dressed faster.
Brigham is marking the calender everyday for you return. He is having fun even though he complains a bit. His reading is really going good.
Kyler plays with the little dolls that I brought. She has been having a lot of fun. She really liked chasing the bubbles.
Better get on the way for school.
Your biggest fans. Brigham and Kyler.

I have so enjoyed sharing your journey and appreciate you allowing me to be a part of it. I am proud of the desires you have to add these sweet children to your family and am sure that Heavenly Father is pleased with the choices you have made and are making. You are all in my prayers nightly (Even Brigham, Kyler and Grandma & Grandpa. It must be difficult for them also-fun but difficult none the less.). I can not wait for the next chapter of your adventure. Take care and travel safe. Marilee
