Same old, same old

Things around here have been pretty much the same. Our days consist of the same monotonous motions of getting up, having breakfast, getting dressed, playing, taking a walk, having lunch, naptime for the kids, playing, taking a walk, dinner, playing, getting ready for bed. It is really hard to keep ourselves busy. Although we’re trying to so the time will pass. We have learned that if we move really slow it helps. We try to have each meal take about 1 hour. We don’t start getting dressed until about 9:30. Daniel is a very fast eater and a very fast dresser. Brigham better start practicing so that he can beat Daniel when they race to get dressed.

We are continuously learning more about Daniel and Katya. There is always a new issue to deal with. It is mostly just figuring out all of their quirks. Daniel has a really bad habit of sulking when he doesn’t get his way. It drives us crazy. We are trying to get him to deal with it in another way. He is very happy to be with us. He really is soaking all of this in. Katya has a black eye. Yesterday she fell off the chair at the table while drinking her juice. She didn’t take the cup from her mouth when she fell and landed with the cup between her face and the floor. Hopefully nobody gets the wrong impression about that. She is learning to come to me a little more. She still prefers Joseph, but is getting a little better. Sometimes we have Joseph totally refuse to help her and offer my help. We wait until she’s ready to accept my help. Oh by the way, she is terrified of the blow dryer. She goes hysterical whenever it’s turned on. Today she did a little better because Joseph was holding her while I did my hair.

As for things back home. The kids have been having a lot of fun. I think they think it’s party time. Brigham had a day at school where Grandma went. She tested him on different things he’s learned so far in kindergarten. He is getting so smart. Kyler is loving springtime. She is spending a lot of time outside in the backyard. She also told me she can now ride her bike really fast. I am anxious to see that. Oh if only the time would go by quicker. We should have more things to do next week so that should help. A few more outings to pass the time. Don’t get us wrong we are enjoying the kids. We just want to get home where everything is childproof, there’s a big yard, the kids don’t have to be dressed in a ton of layers, and most importantly be all together as a family.
