I am a Mother

I have been reading a book that is written by Jane Clayson Johnson. It is called "I am a Mother." She recalls a dinner that she went to where several of the ladies introduced themselves as "just stay at home moms." I thought about this and how too often we refer to ourselves as "just moms." When in reality we know that our role is the most important job that we can ever do. How successful we are will affect many generations to come.

So here I am making a shout out. "I am a Mother." Things that I love about being a mom and or things I do with my kids that I would have to miss if I tried to doing more than being a mom.
I love taking walks in the springtime enjoying the newly bloomed tulips and daffodils. Picnics in the park any day I want. Watching my kids grow and develop learning new skills like: walking, talking, riding a bike, spelling their name reading. I love picking up my kids from school and hearing about their eventful day. Making sugar cookies for every holiday. Watching their faces as they discover something new in the world.
Overall motherhood is amazing and quite rewarding. Sure there are those days when you wipe noses and bums more times than you are old. Burnt everything you've tried to cook, listened to more crying and screaming than you have your own thoughts. But nothing beats a child curled up on the couch with you falling asleep, hugs and kisses morning and night, thankyou's for dinner, cards and pictures drawn just for you and just the mere satisfaction that yes, we've made it through another day and everyone is still intact and happy.

I thought it would be fun as a tribute to all of us mothers out there if everyone would take the time to post their thougths about being a mother just as I have. It sure opened up my eyes and helped me realize that yes I am important, what I do with and for my children is more important than anything else I do my whole life.

Mother of 4 crazy and cute kids.
