Tis' the Season

After moving and leaving my precious garden behind I thought to myself that I'd get a nice break from canning this year. Boy was I wrong. I live in an area where fruit is grown in abundance. Shortly after moving here I purchased some tomatoes to make the best salsa ever. I canned 18 pints of salsa. Then came the blackberries=6 pints of jam. I then found some peaches to buy and canned 13 quarts. After that my parents came bringing a bushel of tomatoes=28 quarts. Then came an offer on free plums=12 pints of jam, 12 pints of syrup and 13 quarts of juice. Last but not lease I just finished up 43 quarts of white grape juice. Boy has it been fun. I still need to get some apples to make pie filling and maybe applesauce, but I think the season is about winding down now. Next year we'll have a garden again and be back to beans, tomatoes, salsa and whatever else we come up with.
