Every year when we go out to buy our tree we remind ourselves that we were going to go cut one down in the forest. Year after year we don't get around to getting the permit before they are sold out. Well not this time. I'm not sure they even sell out here. So this week Joseph went and bought our $10.00 permit and yesterday we headed up into the mountains to find that perfect tree. We listened to Christmas songs on the radio and had so much fun. We four-wheel drived a few roads and had to back out of a couple of others. We found a good place to park and went wandering through the woods. The temperature was about 30 degrees and there was no snow to tromp on. We came across one tree that we all liked. We decided to look a little further. We found a couple others that would do, but liked the first one best. So we stumbled back down the hill and found the tree. After returning to the truck we all sat down on the dew covered ground and ate lunch and had hot cocoa. Here is a photo of the kids before cutting it down. Followed by a photo of Joseph cutting it. If I would of thought about this before getting on to blog I would've also posted a photo of it all decorated in our house. Sorry you'll have to wait for that.
