I apologize for not blogging for so long. I guess we all get wrapped up in the holidays. So here's a little catch-up blog.
We were able to spend our first Thanksgiving all together in Boise with Joseph's family. The kids had a great time playing endlessly with cousins. For me Thanksgiving weekend is not complete without early morning shopping on Friday. I enjoyed even though I went all by myself. It has been fu shopping this year although my mom and sisters have done a lot of my shopping because they found such good deals while they were out and about. (They are out and about a lot more than me, I wonder why.) We also celebrated Kyler's 4th birthday (I know it's hard to believe). I made her a Cinderella cake with a technique called frozen buttercream transfer. It's easy and makes for a fun picture on the cake. I also taught my sister-in-law how to do it. She made the Strawberry Shortcake one that I did last year.
Now that Thanksgiving was all over it was time to move on. On December 1st we took a drive to get our Christmas tree. We are into the old fashioned "real tree", not fake plastic that shows a pole in the middle of it, with lights already on it. (who took the fun, or stress out of stringing lights on the Christmas tree? Anyways, last year we found a lot where we cut down our own tree. It was so fun, however this year it is being developed into a neighborhood. The trees are all still there so we gave it a thought just to cut one down, but then we thought that might be frowned upon. We unded up at Smith's Marketplace to choose our tree. It was not as much fun, but the 7 inches of snow and the snow falling from the sky made it more magical. We found a really fun 8 foot 9 inches tall.
We have enjoyed a few Christmas parties with the kids and all the fun that goes with that. Daniel is quickly learning to sing some holiday classics like: Santa Clause is coming to Town, Jingle Bells and Rudoph. The kids love all of the Christmas shows on TV. They are looking forward to Christmas even though I don't think they can even comprehend everything right now.
Photos coming soon, Interent is way too slow this morning.
Have a Merry Christmas and check back to see Our First Christmas morning together.
