Summer Lovin

June and July have been very busy months with lots of travel and lots of fun. Here is a recap.

School got out on July 8th. One week later we headed to Stanley Lake. We love camping there. The fishing is usually good (not this time) and it is very fun to canoe on the lake. The boys tried it alone. After spending about 5 minutes in the middle of the lake they started working together and made it to the shore. Gammon had his first canoe ride which he enjoyed for a short time, but then wanted to be done. He would rather eat the sand instead. We took a hike to a waterfall, but we didn’t make it to the falls because with all the water this year instead of a small creek to cross there was a raging river.

We were home about a week and a half when we headed to UT to see my cousin and her husband go through the temple and get sealed to their 3 kids. We made it a 5 day trip since it was the 4th of July weekend. We visited Joseph’s brother Bruce and our friends from college, Mark and Hilary. It was a very busy weekend, but fun to see so many people.

While in UT Katya celebrated her 5th birthday. She had a party just before leaving for UT. She had some friends over for a swim party. We decorated flip flops and had a Hawaiian Luau.

Brigham also had a birthday and turned 9. He wanted a LOOONG party. It was 5 ½ hours long. They swam, ate burgers, played games and watched a movie. The boys really liked the icecream sundae bar.

We hosted a block party and rented a bounce house. The kids loved it. All the boys spent the entire time jumping away and were thrilled when the rain started and made it a water slide.

Speaking of waterslides we went with my Brother Jeff and his family to Roaring Springs. A big water park here. It was so much fun. While my brother was here from Florida we also went to a nearby park for a picnic and also had a BBQ at my sister-in-law’s parents house. We just couldn’t get enough of partying.

Saturday, July 10th we traveled to Craters of the Moon National Monument. On our way there our fuel pump went out. We were in a small town. The repair man said he didn’t have the right part, but would lend Joseph his car to go get it in a town 40 miles away. While the kids and I waited the repair man took us to his home to hang out with his wife and 3 kids. Totally beats hanging out in the travel trailer for 4 hours. We got on our way and enjoyed a few hours at Craters of the Moon then stayed in Arco, ID. The next morning we finished our journey to Yellowstone where we spent the next 4 days. We had a great time with my family there. The cousins just couldn’t get enough of each other.

On other news, Gammon is still not walking. He could if he wanted too, but just doesn’t feel like it yet. He lacks confidence.
Kyler lost her first tooth in Yellowstone and did you know the tooth fairy can still make an appearance while you’re camping? She was so excited to share her new smile with all the cousins, aunts, uncles and Grandparents.

While is was very busy it was a lot of fun. The rest of the summer should be more low key.
