A Busy May

Joseph and I were able to go with Brigham to the 4th grade Rendevous. Fun was had by all.

Joseph took Daniel and Brigham on the Father and son’s campout. They fished a lot and Joseph helped a lot of other boys fish too. They came home filthy as ever. I asked Joseph why they always come home so dirty from Father and Son’s and he said it’s because they don’t worry about cleanliness AT ALL. Typical Dad.

While the boys were away we had a girl party. After we put Gammon to bed we soaked our feet in the tub with a foot salt. While soaking our feet I painted the girls fingernails. It was Katya’s first time and she was pretty excited. Kyler slipped and fell in the tub with her clothes on twice. We then dried off and ate sherbet and watched Enchanted. We had a fun evening.

Joseph is done studying until the fall. We are so happy that he passed his test last Friday and can now relax for the summer. 7 more tests until he’s done for GOOD.

Susan G Komen Race for the Cure-Brigham and Joseph both did great in the 5k. Brigham left Joseph in the dust and we knew he would. I actually missed him at the finish line, so I made him come through again for the photo. He ran it in about 25 minutes. We are unsure of his exact time because he started after the runners and before the walkers. They said that because of his age he couldn’t be in the running wave, but next year we won’t worry about it because obviously there were younger children running. He is looking forward to next years race. It was a great activity to participate in just before Mother’s day. Very inspiring.

The kids get out of school on June 8th. We are looking forward to our summer. We have decided to do a humanitarian project this summer. Our goal is to complete one item for every day they don’t have school, not including holidays or weekends. I went to the humanitarian center last week and picked up a bunch of things to sew that they can stuff. We will start with making balls. From there I plan on making dolls for them to stuff. I am excited about this project and so are the kids.

Kyler has joined a group called Star Performers. She will be learning 3 songs with choreography and performing them at Cherry Days, the zoo and Star City Celebration. She has landed the head solo part. She will be Maria in a song from West Side Story. I spoke with her teacher briefly tonight at the Baptism preview. She asked me if Kyler had told me about her solo. She then said she got THE solo. She said that when Kyler opened her mouth and started singing she was floored by the voice coming out of her. It's amazing the talent that girl has.

Katya graduated from preschool and is now anxiously awaiting the start of kindergarten. I am so glad we held her back this year because she will do so much better now. Emotionally she has matured so much this past year.

Memorial day was a lot of fun with our travels to UT. The boys, Joseph and Grandpa enjoyed a round of golf. It was Daniel’s first time golfing. The boys are ready to go again. Unfortunately golfing in Boise is 40 bucks a person so they’ll have to wait to go when we go back to UT. The girls and I enjoyed a The Girl’s night out at Applebees and Annie. We loved the show and company. We traveled on Sunday to visit graves in Lehi and Bountiful. Monday we went to Plain City and Lewiston completing our Grandparent rounds. We enjoyed sharing a little about each person with the kids. I hope they will feel a greater connection to their great-grandparents as we try to do this often.

Gammon had his birthday on June 1st. He loved his Mickey cake since he LOVES Mickey Mouse. He blew out both candles right as the cake was brought in front of him. He knew just what to do. He also got this little bike. It’s a little big for him, but we all take turns pushing him around on it. I think his favorite gift was his Mickey Mouse shirt. He often points to it and says, “Mickey.”

We have a houseguest for the summer. Our nephew, Caleb, has come from CA to work and earn money for is mission. He is 14 and the kids are having a blast with him. He has been working long hours so he hasn’t been around as much as they would like him to be.

Wow, that was a busy month. Enjoy your summer.
